From the beginning, I set myself, or more exactly, this blog, to become a place of and for inspiration. And for this to come true, music should be a part of it. Because for me, music is a source of inspiration. Even though I couldn't play an instrument if my life depended on it, music is part of my daily life. I listen to it while I work, when I'm driving, out for a walk, cleaning... you get the idea.
Basically I have some sort of a playlist, or at least a favourite album, for any sort of opportunity. One for running, one when I'm in the mood for something melancholic, one album vividly reminds me of a time I spent living abroad and one specific song that transports me to a certain moment one winter a couple of years ago when I was walking to classes.
So from now on, I guess I'll have playlists for this blog too. I guess they'll be short (5 songs or so), including only the songs that have been going through my head (or ears) constantly at this moment of time. And here's the first one.
1. Maybe It's Time - Bradley Cooper
Maybe it's time for this song to get un-stuck from my head? Yes, I too have seen the movie. And truth be told, the thing that stuck with me most is the music. Maybe It's Time, Black Eyes, Shallow and Look What I've Found... I've caught myself humming to one of these so many times that it's not even funny anymore. Actually, I had to intentionally listen to some other music just to put these out of my head for half an hour or so. There is just something so catchy about them that had me listen (yes listen, not watch) the trailer probably 15 times because I really liked what I was hearing. And that was probably the main reason why I decided to go and watch the movie in the cinema because nothing else really convinced me that much. Ok, Bradley too.
2. Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) - Lennon/Ono with The Plastic Ono Band
I sort of rediscovered this song one day when browsing through some playlist from 2015 and it stuck with me once again. It's funny how you really like one song, you listen to it a lot, you then forget about it for a couple of years and then you really like it once again.
3. Real Love Baby - Father John Misty
Thank God for song recommendations from the almighty algorithms! That's probably how I "discover" half of new music and this was also how I stumbled across this one. Its really short but I love the whole mood it creates. It practically feels like summer.
4. Everybody Makes It Through (In the Light) - Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin definitely rank somewhere among my 5 favourite bands. But even though, I never came across this song on my own until... I saw that last episode of Mindhunter. It stuck with me so much that I went online, googled it and was pleasantly surprised when I found out that its by the Zeppelin boys. So now I guess I have to buy that vinyl.
